SUPPORT FOR PARENTS OF LGBTQIA+ CHILDREN
Parental support is essential, because no parent is born perfect, and no parent will ever be perfect.
What I offer is a space to explore together your questions, concerns, and fears regarding your child and issues related to LGBTQIA+ communities (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual/Aromantic).
I started working with LGBTQIA+ children in London, England, in 2018, offering therapy sessions in several primary, secondary, and high schools.
In 2019, I had the opportunity to establish and run a counselling service for LGBTQIA+ young people with a third-sector organisation. This service continues to provide young people across England with a free, individual, and affirmative therapeutic space.
Through these experiences, I have listened to many stories of LGBTQIA+ children of different ages, social, ethnic, and religious backgrounds.
I realised that the families of these children often lack adequate support to explore their experiences, questions, concerns, and fears.
As a queer, non-binary person with lived experience and a decade of professional experience in dramatherapy and clinical supervision within queer communities, I offer both individual and group support for parents who wish to explore issues related to their child’s sexuality and/or gender identity.
Individual Support
I offer an individual space for either regular support (supervision) or one-off sessions (consultancy), depending on the needs of the parent.
A free 30-minute initial conversation can be arranged to see if what I offer is right for you. Contact me here for more information.
Group Support
The family support group is open to all parents, carers, and 18+ relatives of LGBTQIA+ young people. Sessions can run monthly or fortnightly and provide an empathic space in which practical information and support are shared among participants.
An online group can be organised if at least three parents or carers are interested.
A free 30-minute initial conversation can also be arranged to see if this group is right for you. Contact me here for further information.
